FOLD low table

the original piece of our FOLD collection. whenever possible we want to design furniture that is not only multifunctional, but fun to use. we grew up sitting at the low folding tables with the kids at all the family functions. they served as dining tables, craft and game tables, forts and stages. and when we were done they folded up and got put in a closet or behind a sofa until the next time we needed them.

why have a coffee table permanently taking up all the space in the middle of your living room when you could have something like this and fold it up so you can play a game or do some yoga.  It also makes it so much easier to transport when you move or when you want to have a meal out in the back yard. Once you start seeing furniture as more mobile, your home starts to look more like a place you want to rearange and play around in, instead of feel trapped in the routine of life.  

we use toggle clamps in the woodshop all the time for different jigs and fixtures and they are one of the most satisfiying little pieces of hardware. when the idea came to use them for this folding table mechanism it was a no brainer.  Clamped open it holds the legs secruely in place and creates an extremely sturdy table. Release the clamp, fold the leg and push the toggle again and the post holds the leg closed for easier storage or transport.  The end of the clamp has a bolt in the end to adjsut the tension on the clamp. try it once and you’ll want to break the table down jsut to s et it up again and clamp the legs in palce.
