Drawing inspiration from the low folding tables we grew up with in Asian households, we wanted to design a modern version with a simple locking mechanism. After months of brainstorming, we realized that these toggle clamps which are a favorite in the shop for jigs and fixtures could satisfy the needed function. They are mounted on a horizontal rail underneath which doubles as a handle for easy transport.

For this third iteration, we made the legs a tad more chonky and moved them out flush to the corners of the top. This one is made out of white oak with a natural finish. The top is made from shop sawn veneer laid onto some extra plywood we had in the shop. The “breadboard” ends and sides are solid white oak, as well as the legs and handle.
